Oregon Hikers/Portland Hikers: www.oregonhikers.org
Oregon Hikers is an online community dedicated to hiking and exploring the outdoors in Oregon. New trip reports are posted in their discussion forums just about every day, and the Oregon Hikers’ Field Guide contains hundreds of trail descriptions, photos, and maps to help plan your adventures. The field guide is written by our forum members. (7000 and growing!) and is provided to the hiking community as a free service to promote hiking and help newcomers get a safe and informed start. The forums and field guide can be browsed by anyone, but with an account you can join in the conversation, asking questions and posting your own trip reports.
With a HikeFinder tool, maps, mountain news, and a lost and found, this site has a little something for everyone no matter what your skill or experience level and is a great place for locals to meet other hikers and for visitors to plan their hikes ahead of time.
Wendy Harrington is a California native who has lived in a small town at the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in Washington state since 2001. Her love of trail running and peakbagging has led her to summit all five Washington volcanoes, climb to the high points of three states, and put nearly a thousand miles a year on her boots. Her loves include ridgelines, saddles, granite, one-day pushes on big mountains, anything volcanic, long solo days, and objectives that push limits and test endurance.
